Describe your current work:

Bruce is one of three founders and pastors of a five year old 300 member church in the city of La Paz. The emphasis of the teaching is on Biblical Worldview. We are involved in teaching systematic theology, protestant work ethic, family ministries, social services, vocational training and microenterprise projects. Our vision is to impact the society with people who think and act biblically. The vocational training is designed to help families start small family businesses practicing biblical work ethic and testifying of Christ in word and deed while providing a beneficial service.

We have been involved in the training, sending and supporting of Bolivian missionaries to other nations such as India, Dagestan, Burkina Faso and one on the way to Mali, believing that Bolivia has received and now must give. Also the Bolivians fit in much better than westerners in certain nations. And then there is our work with the Aymara Indians in Bolivia’s high plains. We have a Training Center near Lake Titicaca where our Aymara Church is located. The Center accommodates up to thirty five live in students. We have served both the indigenous Aymara and Quechua Indians in five to seven week courses taking them through the Bible using New Tribes Mission’s Firm Foundations course. Presently there are no courses going on yet we use the center for retreats and seminars from one to three days as well as loan it to other Christians. This may sound like a lot yet we have been here almost 25 years building a little at a time.

Describe Your Current Support Needs:

Our responsibility is to make sure we have enough funds to cover our monthly budget so that we can draw our salary. Our monthly pledges are about $400 below our budget so we depend on special giving throughout the year to make up the difference. We have high months and low months so any surplus covers the lows. Now we have two boys in Universities in the USA. Thankfully they have both received generous scholarships yet airfare and the percent we do pay is a squeeze. With the current economic crisis, we cannot complain. God is good! Thank you for your support to our work and family.

Important Prayer and Family Needs:

We pray that Daniel and Steve would know God in a deeper way every day. We pray that they get prepared in a vocation that will allow them to be a light in this dark world. That their service would bring glory to God and bless others. When they are in Bolivia for their summer vacation we pray for their safety as the streets here have become very dangerous.
Miriam and I would ask the same prayer for ourselves, to know God in a deeper way every day. That resolves a lot of the other things we could have asked you to pray about. We have great opportunities and responsibilities in teaching and counseling so please pray we be tuned into what the Lord would have us do, say and counsel.
