Describe your current work:

The first Merrimack Valley Christian Film Festival was held from Palm Sunday through Easter Sunday at the Salem Tri-Cinemas in 1992, and 14,000 were in attendance with 400 commitments to Christ. After 8 years the property was sold to Babies R Us and a new place was needed.  In 2000, Steve Cooper with National Amusements was able to obtain the use of Showcase Cinemas 1-6 in Lawrence, MA for another 8 years. At the end of this time, Showcase Cinemas 1-6 were closed and a new place was once again needed. Steve Cooper said it didn’t look good for finding another place. Prayer was answered and Showcase Cinemas 7-8 were made available for 2009. The new location was fine with 10,402 in attendance and 740 decisions for Christ.

A variety of Christian films are shown free of charge with many showings throughout the week. An invitation is given at the end of each movie. Trained counselors are available to pray with all who respond. A follow-up program with participating local bible believing churches is encouraged. Christian Film Festivals of America is a nonprofit organization.

It is now called Christian Film Festivals of America as the film festivals have expanded to other states.
Tentatively, a Boston Film Festival in Revere, MA is scheduled for September 20-October 1, 2009.

A Former member of our church, started the Film Festival and presently many members of our church are active in this ministry.

Prayer Requests:

  • Reaching out to new areas to show films.
  • Pray that more people make decisions for Christ.
  • Pray for the many volunteers in this ongoing ministry.
