Describe your current work:

New Life is a long term 18-24 months restorative highly structured voluntary program for women with substance abuse issues established by George and Grace Rosado in 1977.  We even accept pregnant women, and there is no cost to the participant. The home is a safe haven where biblical principles are taught and women learn how to live and manage their lives in a Christ centered direction. We are a holistic ministry dealing with the whole person: body, mind and spirit. The women are encouraged to be in the word of God on a daily basis with biblically based classes directed to their own specific needs. Our mission is to help one woman at a time become all that God intended her to be: drug free, self supporting and to develop her skills in the workplace so that she may bring others to know Christ.

Grace writes, “One of our components is our outreach ministry to those that are in prison. On a weekly basis, we go into the prisons and youth detention centers; and we minister to women and youth who are in a difficult place in their lives. For some this might mean a life-sentence, for others this is a short span in their lives, but; nevertheless, it is a place of confinement.

Week after week we hear the stories of hurt and devastation. For many this is a lonely place full of regret and remorse. It is heart wrenching to see how many inmates never receive a visit. For whatever reason, whether families have disengaged themselves because of the depth of hurts or because their lives have been so broken by despair and dysfunction; they can no longer embrace their loved ones. The end result is a place of desolation and for some abandonment.”

Prayer Requests:

• Our needs are many as God directs women and children to our doors. We seek the Lord to supply all our needs for our expenses for the home. We covet your prayers that the Lord would soften the women’s hearts to accept Him as Savior and Lord.

 

• Please pray that our transitional home, across the street, would be a blessing and haven to our women who are getting ready to move.

Many women from our church have been volunteers with New Life over the years.
