Describe your current work:
I have visited India many times. Towards the end of last year (2008) throughout the country of India there was a religious uprising, and many believers were killed for their faith. Some were tortured and made homeless, having their houses burnt down. Recently, I heard of a pastor who had fled the community during the uprising and when he returned to his house, was killed on arrival. So the persecution continues. While the believers in India are suffering for their faith, it is a privilege to come alongside them. I call them the "pure-gold believers!" For they have been through the fire! (When you go through the fire your vision is much clearer! Selah!) In this atmosphere I entered into their 'mission' visions.

I visited a city north of Chennai, where I worked with a school principal, pastors of churches, and a mission hospital. The principal of the school has an incredible vision for the community and what God wants to do there! She started a School of Evangelism for believers who want to be trained in communicating the gospel to all walks of society. I was asked to be the keynote speaker at one of their graduation ceremonies. Thirty-two students from twenty churches gathered to be prayed over and sent out after six months of training. The most moving part of the ceremony was when, at the end, they came forward. The lights were turned off and each graduate had a lit candle to declare that they will now go out into the world and shine the light of Jesus to those they meet. This was a very solemn occasion because they knew that in India such a commitment could cost them their lives!

Besides church meetings and special gatherings, I spent quite a lot of time at a mission hospital with a beggars feeding program in a downtown part of the city (pictures below). Three of these beggars bowed their heads as I shared with them the heart of God. The Lord showed me that He wanted to be friends with one of these men. When I passed that info on to that man, he began to cry. His heart melted. As I looked into his eyes, tears came down and I lead him to Jesus, with the help of my interpreter who was a medical worker. So he bowed his head and asked Jesus to be his friend.
